Elderly care is an issue that every family will confront. After understanding old people’s concerning points and their elderly care demands, Country Garden Services formed a free and paid elderly care service list by integrating elderly care service resources to establish the ‘Easy Five Star Elderly Service System’ for property owners in pilot communities.

The service system included five aspects and three levels, among which ‘three levels’ referred to the Carefree Guarantee, the Later Years Enjoyment, and the Lifelong Progress, while the ‘five aspects’ referred to the Easy Medical Care, the Easy Mutual-support, the Easy Enjoyment, the Easy Study, and the Easy Accomplishment. Firstly, Country Garden Services aimed to allow the elderly to enjoy a healthy and carefree life; Secondly, Country Garden Services helped them be immersed in congenial groups, especially for the elderly with higher spiritual pursuits, to acquire chances to lifelong study and to show their strengths.

In ‘Easy Accomplishment Series’, Country Garden Services achieved residential autonomy, mutual-support elderly care, and spread of positive energy in communities by building a volunteer platform. For example, the Easy Class Service Team with residents as its volunteer lecturers provided learning classes involved interests of the elderly including smartphone study, fashion clothes sharing, elementary music study, regimen study, and phone photography study. The Public Welfare Service Team served by skillful residents provided considerate services such as free medical consultations, free hair cutting, free repair, and free mending.

Mr. Tu, attending smartphone study in Easy Class, has lived alone since the outbreak of the epidemic. He always had problems in using his smartphone and got help from strangers since his children were in Hong Kong, which made him feel helpless. Fortunately, learning classes organized by Country Garden Services offered Mr. Tu learning opportunities and he felt much relieved.

Ms. Li, who wished to make contributions continuously after her retirement, being a member of a volunteer organization later, taught other elderly people in her community to study music theory every week. Ms. Li told housekeepers that she realized her self-value after retirement by volunteer services, and she was much happier and more satisfied. Some elderly people in more advanced age who lived alone confided they would expect one thing every month that volunteers in the community could visit them, which made them feel not lonely anymore.

At the same time, Country Garden Services set up the Charity Visit Service Team to guarantee all empty nesters living in Country Garden Services communities get concerned and comforted. Besides, it also established the Epidemic Prevention and Control Service Team, positively playing initiative, participation, and co-creation of residents, and cooperating fundamental governance in response to the demand of epidemic prevention and control in communities.

In addition, Country Garden Services built the Child-Care Class Service Team, a service bridge between the elderly and young people. The team aimed to make more elderly people give full play to their expertise, among them the team members acted as volunteer lecturers to share and impart knowledge and experience for children. Furthermore, Country Garden Services pushed forward to planning and organizing activities by themselves for those who expected to participate in cultural activities in the community. Cultural Publicity Service Team volunteers co-created cultural and recreational activities, regularly conducting enriching community activities including community-level art performances and parent-child bazaars.

‘property company + elderly care’ was an opportunity point to effectively carry forward community-based elderly care difficulties.Yet notably community-based elderly care has not formed a complete system since it practiced, and there was not a community-based elderly care mode suitable for the nation in society now.
